WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

“The country only called a success when its women are strong.” from the movie PadMan. We always talk about women empowerment, what is empowerment. Empowerment means accepting and allowing people (women) who are on the outside of the decision-making process into it. This is one of the most crucial points for every developed country.

Today, I tried to search the best country for women and I found Denmark is in the first position, the USA comes at 15 and India comes at 58. (Source https://www.usnews.com/) India not even coming under 50. When we see all developed countries, how many percentages of women taking part in the labor force. We have a shocking figure.

USA 57% of women participated in the labor force while India only 23%. (Source https://www.catalyst.org/)  This means that three out of four Indian women are neither working nor seeking paid work, putting India among the bottom 10 countries in the world in terms of women’s workforce participation

It’s difficult to understand what’s behind this paradox. Women in India voluntarily dropping out work because of social structure or any other constraints. Now just imagine if the labor force for women increases by 25% what will be the growth of India.

So, what will be the solution to the increasing women’s labor force in India?

1. Get rid of Paradox Culture.

Parents are forcing women to get married to a richer family and don’t need to engage in paid work and forcing them to manage the domestic task like schooling of children, take care of in-laws parents, etc. Don’t you think this type of culture should be changed? Why don’t the whole family support each other? Handling children and making food is not the only responsibility of women. I saw many people that men in India are not even picking up a glass of water while they came to the USA they will do everything. What’s the difference they found in the USA? Start right in your own home, workplace, and community. Write a note of thanks to that teacher who encouraged you years ago

2. Keep Girls in School

When girls stay in a school and finish secondary high school, many good things happen to her and her families. She will have a better understanding of life. She will marry later, earn higher wages, and actively participate in the community. Girls are supposed to get a higher and quality education. Gov. has to take responsibility and should audit every rural and urban area that every girl is going to school or not.

3. Empower them as a business owner.

Everyone knows that women can have the best management skills. She already started learning from home how to manage things. Gov. should support them by providing loans and helping them to make an entrepreneur. Even better if the loan is paid off, donate that funds and recycle again and again to help more women.

4. Appreciation to the women

Say thank you and give compliments and help women around you. Show the importance in your life how much you appreciate them.

 5. Support organizations that empower women.

There are so many organizations committed to empowering women. Refer a friend to a business or organization that makes empowering women.
